Welcome
After safety and security, being recognized and understood are two of the most fundamental needs a human being has. No drug or biological approach can replace talking to another person in safety and privacy. There are some things that are best discussed with an objective and supportive therapist.
A therapeutic relationship can be one of the most important relationships a person can have. A therapist can be an ally in managing life’s complexities. Being in therapy is a sign of courage and strength, not of failure or weakness. Recognizing you have a problem and seeking help to change it is a sophisticated and mature thing to do.
Seeking therapy can be a beginning, a light at the end of a tunnel. The choice of a therapist should be based on the same criteria one would use for choosing any competent professional: training, experience in the field, compassion, and life experience.
I consider the family and family relationships to be the template for almost all human behavior. We humans are unique for the length of time our children are dependent on parents, family, and other adults throughout their lives. The quality of family life can determine the quality of one’s life outside the family. This includes all interpersonal relationships as one interacts with the biological and developmental stages of life that we all must navigate.
Conflict is a necessary and normal part of every transition, but when we get stuck in any of these stages, when we cannot manage the various problems and demands that accompany each phase of life, an experienced, well-trained, therapist can be helpful.
I treat the specific and common problems of, anxiety, depression, mood disorder, anger management, sexual dysfunction, trauma, ocd, ptsd, loneliness, regret, excessive worry, low self-esteem and confidence, and underachievement. I specialize in parenting, adolescent, young adulthood and adult interpersonal and behavior problems, related to school, work, socializing, marriage, and divorce. Please check my Services menu for a more detailed discussion of these problems.
