I have been in private practice for 37 years. I was a school psychologist on Long Island early in my career, helping children, adolescents, parents and teachers with school related problems like underachievement, behavior management, social problems, parenting, academic remediation and psychological testing. After receiving my doctorate from Hofstra University, I completed a four year post-doctoral training program in adult psychotherapy and a two year program in child, adolescent, and family psychotherapy from the Derner Institute at Adelphi University.
I have a diverse clinical practice consisting of adolescents, young adults, adults, seniors, couples, and families. I use a psychodynamic approach that emphasizes relationships as the source of most emotional and psychological conflict. In this regard, I believe you'll find me to be genuine, down to earth and empathic. I combine these qualities with my training, years of clinical experience, and my own life experiences to understand and help you.
